2 DAYS MOUNT. RWENZORI HIKING SAFARI.

Overview.

This safari takes you to the legendary mountains of the moon - Rwenzori national park which is located in the western district of Kasese. The hike using the Kilembe route is rewarding with primates such as blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and Rwenzori colobus if you are lucky.

Other attractions include birds like the Rwenzori turacos, great blue turacos among others, varied flora, amazing mountain scenery and much more. There is a lot to enjoy along the way like tea plantations rift valley escarpments and ever green forests.

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Transfer to Rwenzori Mountains National Park.

Welcome to Uganda, the pearl of Africa! The assigned driver guide will pick you from the hotel room and make a transfer to Rwenzori national park. Enjoy the drive on a well-tarmacked road through Fort portal Tourism city, as you view lush scenery.

Among other attractions enroute are the verdant tea plantations, hills and valleys and ever green forests. On arrival, you will check in the accommodation for your dinner after having en-route lunch in Fort portal tourism city.

Day 2: Hike via Kilembe trail and transfer back to Kampala.

Start the hike along the foothills of Rwenzori Mountains immediately after breakfast and the hike will begin with a briefing by the local park guide. You will hike through Kilembe route. The hike is rewarding as you pass through the forest filled with rare primates, bird species, mammals and butterflies. Cross some streams and then stop on top of Nyamwamba where you will view the forest very well; while here, spot some chimpanzee nests in tree branches, spot monkeys like black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys among others. Later on, descend and join your safari guide for a return transfer back to Kampala.
