4 DAYS BWINDI AND MGAHINGA DOUBLE GORILLA TREKKING TOUR.
Overview.
Visit the two national parks in Uganda where you will trek gorillas. Mountain gorillas are rare endemic species that can be spotted in Virunga Mountains and good chance, in Uganda you can find these gorillas in two national parks and this means that you have a high chance of meeting them in the forest while trekking.
You will have enroute stopovers for lunch and viewing points such as at the Uganda equator.
Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Bwindi National Park.
Be picked from the hotel in Kampala after breakfast and then transfer to Bwindi national park which in among the world heritage sites. You have several stopover as you get to see enroute attractions like the Uganda equator, Igongo cultural centre, Kigezi terraced highlands among others. Arrive in the home of mountain gorillas that is Bwindi national park and check in a booked safari lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla tracking and transfer to Mgahinga National park.
Immediately after breakfast, drive to the park headquarters and receive briefing and the checklist is done from this point. Then be assigned with the park ranger guide in a group of 8 visitors and enter the forest to search for these endangered species. Trekking seems to be tiresome as it involves hiking and moving long distances and this means it can take about 2-3 hours including an hour while in front of the gorillas.
While in the forest, spot attractions like different tree species, bird species, and other primates among others. Then trek back to the park offices and a certificate will be rewarded to you and then drive back to the lodge for lunch.
Immediately after lunch, check out and drive to Mgahinga national park a home of golden monkeys and gorillas. This is a smallest national park in Uganda occupies an area of 331 square kilometres and on your arrival, check in the accommodation site for dinner and aver night.
Day 3: Second gorilla trekking in Mgahinga National Park.
Another big day of gorilla trekking comes in Mgahinga national park which starts with breakfast and then briefing. This briefing exercise is very important where you will be able to know how to trek smoothly without interruption. Among the briefing points are the rules and regulations while trekking, about Mgahinga forest national park and its inhabitants among others.
Just like in Bwindi forest, also here gorilla trekking exercise doesn’t change and the time remains the same. You will be rewarded with a certificate and thereafter drive back to the lodge for your lunch and leisure.
Day 4: Transfer to Kampala.
This will be a long day journey as you drive from Mgahinga national park to Kampala capital city, via the equator monument. A drop off at either Entebbe airport or Kampala hotel depending on your choice and this will be the end of your 4 Days Bwindi and Mgahinga Double Gorilla Trekking tour.
