4 DAYS MURCHISON FALLS NP TOUR.
Overview.
A great safari where you have a chance to spot the big five animals in their natural habitat, spot the hippos and crocodiles among others. Also, this safari rewards you with a full hour of explore the mighty chimpanzees.
With several stopovers, a major one being at Ziwa sanctuary for rhino trekking and another in Luwero at the road side market to purchase some fresh fruits.
Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Arrive and transfer to Murchison falls NP.
Arrive at the airport and be picked by the driver guide from the airport or after the breakfast, our driver guide will pick you from the hotel and then transfer to the largest conservation area in Uganda, the pearl of the Africa. The journey takes about 5 hours’ drive and rewards you with history about the liberation wars of Uganda as you pass through the Luwero triangle and Nakasongola district.
Have a stopover in the bustling town of Luwero where you have a chance to experience the real life of local markets and purchase some fresh organic fruits like pineapples, apples, papaws, oranges, mangoes among others, depending of your preference.
Proceed on a drive to Murchison Falls National park, take an evening game drive to be able to spot some animals like the giraffes, buffaloes, different antelopes like the Jackson hartebeests, waterbucks, bush backs, warthogs among others. Check in your place of accommodation.
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise in Murchison falls National Park.
Embark on a game drive in the morning which will be followed by an afternoon boat cruise to the bottom of thundering Murchison falls. These two activities are rewarding with sightings of variety of wild animals like warthogs, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, bushbucks, Topis and kobs.
An afternoon boat trip on the other hand provides visitors with opportunities to view water loving animals like Crocodiles, hippos which are spotted along water dwelling birds like African fish eagle, malachite kingfisher, hawks, herons, storks, cormorants and many others.
Day 3: Visit the top of Murchison Falls and Chimpanzee trekking in Budongo forest.
Have breakfast and drive to the top of Murchison falls where you will witness the magic of the world’s strongest falls, as water squeezes itself through a small tunnel hence forming a rain bow.
Then transfer to Budongo forest for chimpanzee trekking, an activity that starts with a short briefing. Then head to the forest to trek our fellow cousins which we share 98% of DNA with. Enjoy the chimps for only an hour as they move, feed and groom their young ones.
The whole exercise can take about 2-3 hours like in any other place where this activity is done and then after the exercise, return for lunch and relax the whole afternoon.
Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala with enroute Rhino trekking experience.
This is the last day in Murchison falls N/park. You will check out of the lodge immediately after breakfast and transfer back to Kampala with an amazing stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary. Here you will have a chance to enter the jungle and trek the rhinos that were re-introduced in Uganda recently following massive poaching that led to their extinction in mid-1980s.
Spot other animals like antelopes, hippos, primates and variety of bird species. Proceed to Kampala after the trek, have lunch and a drop off at the airport in Entebbe or at a hotel which will mark the end of your tour.
