Rwenzori Mountains National Park is located in western Uganda, approximately 437 km from Kampala. It is accessible by road, with a journey of about 7-8 hours. Alternatively, visitors can fly to Kasese airstrip or Entebbe International Airport, followed by a road transfer to the park.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit is during the dry seasons, from June to August and December to February, when trekking conditions are ideal, and the weather is mild.

Day 3: Trek to John Matte Hut
  • Morning: Trek from Nyabitaba Hut to John Matte Hut (3,300m), approximately 5-6 hours.
  • Afternoon: Explore the surroundings of John Matte Hut.
  • Evening: Dinner and overnight at John Matte Hut.
Day 4: Trek to Bujuku Hut
  • Morning: Trek from John Matte Hut to Bujuku Hut (3,962m), approximately 5-6 hours.
  • Afternoon: Enjoy the scenic views along the trail.
  • Evening: Dinner and overnight at Bujuku Hut.
Day 5: Descend to Nyabitaba Hut and Return
  • Morning: Descend from Bujuku Hut to Nyabitaba Hut.
