4-Day Itinerary — Day by Day
Day 1
Kampala / Entebbe → Kibale Forest NP — Luxury Arrival (340 km)
Private vehicle departs at a civilised hour (no 5am starts today). Drive west to Kibale (340 km, 5–6 hours). Arrive at your luxury lodge — Primate Lodge Kibale's thatched cottages rise above the forest edge; each has a private veranda where chimps and other primates regularly pass. Champagne welcome. Settle in. Afternoon guided forest walk with your lodge naturalist. Pre-dinner cocktails on the forest terrace. Private dinner.
Day 2
PRIVATE CHIMP TREK + Crater Lake Canoe + Forest Dinner
7:30am private departure for your chimp trek — your group only. No strangers, no shared pace, no compromises. Your dedicated guide communicates with trackers to find the community and optimise your approach. Spend 1 hour with wild chimpanzees, photographed and interpreted by a guide whose only focus is your experience.
Return to your luxury lodge for a gourmet forest lunch. Afternoon: private canoe on a crater lake — the Fort Portal area has 50+ crater lakes; your guide takes you to the most beautiful and least visited, where you paddle in silence among kingfishers and the reflections of forest. Evening: your booked spa treatment (massage or forest body treatment, 60 minutes) in the lodge's forest spa. Private dinner.
Day 3
Bigodi Private Walk + Crater Lakes Drive + Sunset Forest Walk
Morning: private Bigodi Wetland walk — accompanied only by your Nile Abenteuer Safaris guide and a community naturalist. Unhurried, with time to set up photography positions, linger on good sightings, and stop for tea in the wetland. Afternoon: private guided drive through the crater lakes landscape. Sunset walk in Kibale's buffer zone — your last evening in the forest.
Day 4
Kibale Forest Morning → Return Kampala / Entebbe (340 km)
Final morning at leisure. Champagne bush breakfast on your veranda. Depart mid-morning. Return to Kampala or Entebbe (340 km, 5–6 hours). Arrive by evening.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which lodge do you recommend?
Our top choice is Primate Lodge Kibale — the only lodge built directly on the forest edge with a viewing platform where habituated chimps and colobus regularly appear. Turaco Treetops is more intimate (6 tree houses, stunning design). Kibale Forest Camp is an excellent mid-luxury option. We match the lodge to your dates and preferences — all are exceptional.
What makes this trek 'private'?
Your chimp tracking permit is allocated to your group only. No shared trekking with strangers. Your guide's sole focus is your group. You set the timing and pace within UWA regulations. The lodge experience is also private — your meals are served at private tables, your canoe is for your group, your spa treatment is individually scheduled.
Is the spa treatment included?
Yes — one 60-minute spa treatment per person is included in the package. Additional treatments can be booked directly with the lodge. Primate Lodge Kibale's spa uses local botanical products and the treatments are conducted in a forest-facing pavilion — extraordinary setting.
