Itinerary — Day by Day
Day 1
Kampala → Queen Elizabeth NP (400 km) + Photography Briefing
Arrive QE. Your photography guide conducts a 2-hour camera settings briefing covering exposure for savannah, forest, and boat light conditions. Evening test shoot at the lodge — sunbirds, weavers, and the lake at golden hour.
Day 2
QE: Dawn Game Drive + Kazinga Cruise + Ishasha Afternoon
5:30am: Dawn game drive in Kasenyi plains — the best light of the day. Your guide positions the vehicle for optimal angles on lion, elephant, and kob in golden sunrise light. Afternoon: Kazinga Channel cruise — African skimmer and pelican in afternoon light. Ishasha evening for tree lion silhouettes against the sunset.
Day 3
QE: Ishasha Full Photography Day
Full day dedicated to Ishasha tree-climbing lions. Early morning, midday (when lions are most likely in trees), and late afternoon. Your guide identifies the best family positions and approaches from the optimal sun angle. The afternoon light through fig tree canopy with lions is extraordinary.
Day 4
QE → Kibale Forest NP (100 km) + Forest Edge Photography
Drive to Kibale. Afternoon: forest edge photography session — sunbirds, turacos, and the remarkable light of the forest boundary at dusk. Your guide identifies the best perches and feeding trees.
Day 5
Kibale: Chimp Tracking (AM) + Bigodi Twilight Walk (PM)
7:30am chimp trek. Your guide positions you for the best chimp portraits — backlit canopy, grooming sessions, infant carrying. Full 1-hour encounter with photographer-focused positioning. Afternoon: Bigodi Wetland twilight walk — extraordinary 45-minute window of low golden light over the papyrus.
Day 6
Kibale → Murchison Falls NP (350 km via Masindi)
Drive north. Arrive Murchison evening. Your guide briefs the next two days' target subjects: giraffe silhouettes at dawn, shoebill in the delta, falls waterfall spray photography.
Day 7
Murchison: Dawn Giraffe Drive + Nile Cruise Photography + Falls Shoot
6:00am: Dawn giraffe drive — Rothschild's giraffe against the sunrise is one of Africa's most iconic photography subjects. Afternoon: Nile launch cruise with camera tripod positions designated by your guide — African skimmer in flight, pelican colonies, falls spray. Drive to the top of Murchison Falls at golden hour.
Day 8
Final Dawn Drive → Return Kampala / Entebbe (305 km)
Final golden hour session. Image review with your guide. Return drive south. Arrive Kampala by evening.

Frequently Asked Questions
What camera equipment do you recommend?
Mirrorless or DSLR with good high-ISO performance (Sony A7IV, Canon R6, Nikon Z6 or equivalent). Primary lens: 100–400mm or 70–200mm f/2.8 for large mammals. Secondary: 24–70mm for landscape and environmental context. Extra batteries (3+). A tripod or monopod for the boat cruise. No flash in forest or near nocturnal animals. Your photography guide will advise on specific settings for each environment in the Day 1 briefing.
Can I add gorilla photography in Bwindi?
Yes — extending by 2 days to Bwindi (adding Days 9–10) with a gorilla permit ($800pp) is highly recommended for photographers. Bwindi's forest light is extraordinary at dawn, and the gorilla encounter (1 hour) provides intimate portrait opportunities unlike any other wildlife photography experience. Contact us to add the Bwindi extension.
Is this suitable for beginners or only advanced photographers?
Both. Your photography guide adapts to your skill level — beginners receive full camera settings guidance and species identification support; advanced photographers receive compositional advice, behaviour prediction, and specific positioning for portfolio-quality images. The 8-day circuit gives beginners enough time to develop their skills progressively.
